Skatepark

A small skatepark was built here in around early 2017. Made up of a few basic ramps and grind rails, it became a good, chill spot for people to learn how to skate and rollerblade. I once met a 39-year-old local school teacher practicing his skateboarding skills here — I even filmed and photographed him so he could track his progress.

Despite its modest size, the skatepark had its own charm. Being tucked away in a quiet area meant skaters could practice without the pressure of being watched by younger, more experienced crowds — and without anyone getting in the way.

Unfortunately, the skatepark has since been demolished. While it’s easy to point fingers at the council, the real cause seems to be severe erosion on two sides of the site. Heavy machinery and trucks have been brought in to stabilize the area, which likely led to the removal of the skatepark.

The back section of this area floods regularly during heavy rains, especially in winter. In the warmer months, particularly summer, it’s usually home to a few homeless camps.
